4 ways organizations adapted during the pandemic

May he live in interesting times. Like it or not, we live in interesting times. They are times of danger and uncertainty; but they are also the most creative of any time in the history of mankind.
— Robert F Kennedy

Every generation has their crisis and in these uncertain times, it looks like we are dealing with ours. We will get out of this and things will return to normal.

In the meantime, we are also faced with one of the most creative times of our generation. We as organizations and people were not ready to be swept up in a global pandemic and within that chaos, there is creativity happening all around us.

Organizations are experimenting every day.

None of us have faced an economic crisis in the face of a global pandemic. Some of us, running young businesses we haven’t even had to face an economic downturn while in the leadership positions we hold.

For the foreseeable future I want to get more involved with our SME community in Toronto from all industries to understand what are some of the once in a lifetime challenges and opportunities people and organizations are facing.

For as long as it takes to deal with these challenges I am shifting content over to a pure focus on challenges people are facing and how we will collectively thrive after this challenging time.

Over the next few weeks, I will be interviewing professionals from different industries and positions to chat about what they’re experiencing and what their plans are for pushing through in a series called "Survive and Thrive".

Through this I hope to have a permanent record of this time primarily in video, audio, and transcripts.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve already started having some discussions and some of the common challenges I'm hearing across organizations are:

  • Making big decisions now, without all the information.
  • Remote teams and how org's bridge the culture, processes, and appropriately measure deliverables?
  • Digitization projects on overdrive. Any weakness in digital strategy is being brought to the forefront whether that's internal or external.
  • Focus, what do we do (and not do) in priority.

I will be updating you all with the channels we will be releasing this content as we produce it. If you are interested in exploring some of the challenges and strategies going on in your organization please feel free to reach out.

Together we have the unique opportunity of coming out of this experience with more knowledge, compassion, and experience.
