We are now a year from when the first COVID case hit Canada in Jan. Since then we have seen a range of physical and social distancing put in place. This has driven significant growth in online activity across practically every metric and industry.
Canadians have been more reliant on digital services and experiences than ever before. Technology and demand are again outpacing strategic deployment for those companies that have not been conscious of implementing accessibility design across their digital ecosystem.
There has been some significant legislation by the Ontario government to start mandating accessibility requirements enforced by potentially significant fines.
For organizations with 20 employees:
- File an accessibility report by June 30, 2021
For organizations with 50+ employees:
- File an accessibility report by June 30, 2021
- All websites and web content must be WCAG 2.0 compliant
